Movement Detroit, North America’s favourite summer outdoor techno festival announces the 2015 phase one lineup.
It’s exciting to see a few European first timers to Movement 2015, some who are highly devoured by hungry techno lovers in North America but who rarely make it to this area of the world. Included in this category is Berghain resident Ben Klock, Aus Music’s Midland, a live set from Recondite, and the youngest artist on the bill with a more house music vibe, Route 94 .
The Movement 2015 “Origins” stage so far includes the likes of Kevin Saunderson, Carl Craig, Matthew Dear, GRiZ, Danny Brown, MK, and Seth Troxler. Coming from the North are Canadian artists, Richie Hawtin, Art Department, and Bob Moses (live).
A more questionable inclusion is a DJ set from the Disclosure duo. Without undermining their musical talent and positive contribution to the dance music industry in 2014, it will be interesting to see if their general appeal draws a more mainstream crowd. Even more unclear is what will come from Boys Noize and Skrillex’s festival debut as Dog Blood.
We are also curious to see what legendary hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg brings to the festival grounds as DJ Snoopadelic.
Tickets for the 3 day festival taking place in Detroit’s Hart Plaza from May 23-25 are on sale now.
The 74 performances announced today, in alphabetical order, are as follows:
